'S O U L F U L' . . .

I once got the chance to interact with this little girl. She was brown skinned with thick long black hair. She had one of the brightest smiles I had ever seen and was always happy. She would enter the room and everyone would be happy to see her; because she made your day.

And when she spoke as young as she was, she caught everyone's attention. This little girl soul was filled with happiness something some of us wished that we had. Others of us was searching for it. She sang and the sweetness in her voice made you want to request song after song. 

This little girl had one of the best souls that I interacted with in a long time. She moved gracefully, spoke gracefully and acted as if she was and angel in disguise, The perfect little girl every parent longed for.

Then one day she changed; well something changed her. 'Why have you changed?' Many of us questioned. She just gave a warm smile. Although she still made the room become aware of her presence, she wasn't the same soulful little girl. Something/someone changed her. A lady approached her and asked the question that everyone needed the answer to... 'What changed you?'

 Her reply was 'Life.. Life changed and through its changes, it changed me.' People wanted to understand what she meant by this .. And they all sat astonished and amazed; trying to interpret the meaning of her words. 

Later that night, the lady sat in her room and reminisced on the conversation that she had with the little girl. She then made the connections.. Life changes each day; as you become older you become wiser. The wisdom that you gain from the lessons,is up to you to bring them to life. You can't always control events that happen in your life; but sometimes although you do not want to be changed by them they change you. She realized that over the course of time that little girl had lost piece of her soul when she was introduced to death and love. Two of the most gruesome pains that humans go through.

She had fallen in love with this guy. A guy that consumed her body, mind and part of her soul. This guy was her everything; he added to the happiness that she already had. He made her so happy that she shared the most valuable part of  her soul with him; something she vowed to save for marriage. Then, she got caught up in a web. A tangled web; things changed and the status of her lover changed. The change in his status result was sharing his love. Yes, she still loved him and forever did, but she wondered if he returned that love the same way that she did. 

For the little girl that we once knew; has grown and gone through certain stages of life. Although she is still soulful, in certain ways life changed her. It changed her in some inexplicable ways.
