Read All About It

I know I haven't written in over a week. But I've been busy with school. You know that point of the semester when you're wondering if it's worth it; yes, I've arrived at it. But no worries I'll push thru it.

"Yeah, we're all wonderful, wonderful people
So when did we all get so fearful?
Now we're finally finding our voices"

The quote above, is from Emeli Sande's song Read All About It. Pt 3.

On Friday the world experienced various tragedies. Some people argued that because it was Friday 13 November ; that the reason for all the unrest occurred around the world in the various countries. We all know Friday the 13th is classified as 'Black Friday.' The Friday where everything goes wrong; where if you step on a crack you'll break your mother's back. (metaphorically)

But before all these unrest took place, here in the United States, we were faced with our own personal confrontations in the state of Missouri at Mizzou; where things escalated; lives were threatened etc. The one question that one of my best friends brought up was, 'Since when did Blacks become fearful and unable to fight back?' Many colleges around the nation joined in solidarity with the students at that school. However, you can't a battle that's only fought when an issue is happening in the place that you live. Then that battle disappears and it remains silent. For example .. People walk around shouting, 'Black Lives Matter' but shouldn't it be 'All Lives Matter?'

In my own personal opinion I feel that us being transformed by technology, the voices that we once had about certain concerns are now affected. When did humans become fearful of other humans? And every time that we feel like we're progressing something else happens and we're back to square one.

There has been an uprising since the attack in Paris. Many people complained that countries such as Syria have been politically unstable for the past months. However, Facebook did not allow the Palestine flag to be placed as your profile picture. Other Blacks are chanting that France is the reason for the country of Haiti; (the first in the Western Hemisphere to be independent) that they are financially unstable; with high rates of poverty etc.

Personally, I feel that even though the world is unsafe and a country may be responsible for a dispute in another country we should still sympathize with that country. For all we know it could be our country. So let's think hard and find our voices and fight this fight together.

Remember before you go to sleep at night ; or as you go through your day to Pray for our world.
